Argento Audio Serenity RCA Interconnects … Short Introduction and Impressions
Earlier, I wrote about my experience with the Organic Audio power cable. One of the very rare “audiophile-grade” power cords that will not slow down the pace, rhythm, and timing of the music.
I will now share in a few words what I think about the Argento Audio Serenity RCA interconnects. Argento is a sister company of Organic Audio, and their cable conductors are made of silver, while those from Organic Audio use copper conductors.

The Serenity line of Argento Audio was launched in 2003, and still remain a current model. Like some of our products, this is one company that does not change models just for the sake of changing.
The Serenity line is Argento Audio’s entry point into their cable range, topped by the Flow Master Reference Series. However, their entry point could be the top model of other cable brands, at least in price. There are only a few models, which is great as there will be no confusion. These models can be seen at our Argento Audio information page.
One of Argento Audio’s greatest strengths (as well as Organic Audio) is that they manufacture their own connectors, and these connectors are made of the same material as their conductors, and are connected to the conductors without soldering. Isn’t this an excellent approach to cable manufacturing ? This is rare among high-end cable companies, who usually just buy off-the-shelf connectors from other brands for their own cables.
When one wants longer lengths from the standard, the cost is not doubled like other cables, but is relatively low per 0.5 meter increment in comparison to the starting cost of the standard length cable. It is obvious that a lot of cost has gone into the manufacture of these connectors.
Before I experienced the Argento Audio cables hands-on, I thought a particular RCA silver cable was the most balanced silver cable so far. Detailed and transparent, but never sounding hard after longer listening unlike most silver cables. After all, the company pioneered and revolutionized the use of silver in amplifiers and cables.
Well, the Serenity RCA interconnects changes that perception. Hooked up between the fabulous Neodio NR22 CD player and Trafomatic Audio Experience Two 300B amplifier, the Serenity RCA interconnects are similarly detailed and transparent, but with a more fluid, relaxed, more natural sound. The background was quieter, blacker too which I would attribute to their attention to dielectrics. Any last hint of ruthlessness from a silver conductor is not evident from the Serenity cable, one can listen the whole day.

On Carol Kidd’s absolutely beautiful minimalist twosome album “Tell Me Once Again”, closely miked and accompanied only by a guitar (highly recommended for those who treasure exquisite vocals), all that I mentioned above about the cable are heard. Superb recording from the CD layer, and excellent music.

As for speed, no problems at all. On super-charged speed tracks from the Blue Man Group’s “How To Be A Megastar Live!” album, the system was a speed demon. There is of course the matter of the speaker cable further down the path, but if the system was slowed down at the source, then nothing can bring back the speed.
Transients and visceral impact ? All intact, songs from the Fourplay 1st album would easily confirm this. Check it out yourself at #02-44 The Adelphi, Singapore. Let us know if you can find any system at The Adelphi that is as propulsive in reproducing transients, with a “puny” 8-watt SET 300B amplifier, and then morphs into a system with a holographic presentation of gentle vocals.

Compared to my other reference silver cable, the Serenity had a more accurate timbre and more body to the sound. However, there is no perfect cable, and I’ve heard my other reference silver cable contribute to the superb sound heard from systems that had the same brand as the cable (at least the higher models). Anyway, the Serenity is now my new reference silver cable, and its bigger brother Flow should follow.
Timbre and tone, texture, dynamics of sound from the instruments on Kenichi Shimazu’s jazz album “Double Double Bass Sessions” was splendid, as well as on the Hiroshi Minami Trio CD. I found these wonderful albums while “digging” around Roxy Music at the Adelphi – classic jazz, and some bop in between.

In the context of the current system I have now, the Serenity is clearly superior. To summarize … like the Organic cables, the Serenity are not cables to be used for tone control purposes. The Serenity RCA interconnect is a natural-sounding silver cable, with very high fidelity to timbre and tone. Some other silver cables fail in these important criteria. However, some users may not be aware, until they compare their silver cable to the Argento Audio Serenity. Best for systems needing more transparency without the glare.
